EVERLEGAL Counsel acted as a moderator at the UBA discussion on current issues of mobilization and exemption from military service.

On September 17 in Kyiv, the UBA organised a discussion on current issues of mobilization and exemption from military service, moderated by Svitlana Teteria, Counsel and head of the Agricultural and Land Law practice at EVERLEGAL.

Key insights from the event:

  • The first part of the discussion focused on issues related to the status of a critically important enterprise and the exemption of employees from military service.
  • The second session addressed how to find a balance between the mobilization and exemption of athletes. Participants debated how to interpret the current criteria for exempting athletes and whether those criteria need revisions.
  • In the third part of the event, the exemption of employees in the agricultural sector was discussed. In particular, attention was centered on the specifics of obtaining the status of a critically important enterprise and the exemption of employees for companies in the agricultural sector (considering recent legislative changes). Participants identified the main challenges faced by agribusinesses during the employee exemption process and discussed possible solutions.

The event served as a platform for sharing experiences and developing proposals for improving the procedures of exemption and mobilization across various sectors, which is especially relevant in today’s environment.
