EVERLEGAL partners with Ukraine Trek for the second year running, an initiative presenting Ukraine's innovation potential to the international community
In August 2026, Kyiv and Lviv hosted the participants of Ukraine Trek 2026, an initiative organised by alumni of Harvard University and Johns Hopkins School. The delegation brought together 24 participants from 10 countries, students and alumni of master's programmes at Harvard University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and the Columbia School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA).

EVERLEGAL has supported the trek since its first year. Partner Andriy Porayko, a Harvard University alumnus and member of the Board of Directors of the Harvard Club of Ukraine, is part of the team of co-organisers that shaped the idea of the trek, developed the programme, built partnerships and coordinated speakers and visits.
Why Ukraine Trek matters to Ukraine
The delegates have extensive experience in public administration, the military, business, consulting and academia. Their professional interests include defence technology, infrastructure and human rights. These are the people who will go on to shape international policy, investment and security cooperation with Ukraine.

Over ten days, the guests met the third President of Ukraine, Viktor Yushchenko, as well as representatives of the current government, city mayors, and heads of state-owned and private critical infrastructure companies, businesses, universities, military and civil society organisations.

The meetings centred on innovation, investment and security. Over the ten days, participants formed their own view of Ukraine, based on what they saw and heard on the ground.

Defence technology and innovation on the programme
At the Serpens Center for International Security, participants were introduced to Ukraine's defence tech ecosystem and supply chains. Officers from the Khartiia Corps and Kill House Academy discussed operational planning and commanding units in combat with the delegation. Participants also observed drone operator training and tried the exercises themselves. At Lviv Polytechnic National University, one of the leading centres of military technology development, a separate discussion was devoted to defence innovation.

This part of the programme is directly relevant to EVERLEGAL's DefenceTech practice. The firm advises Ukrainian and international defence companies, their founders and investors at every stage, from setting up and structuring a business to raising investment, M&A transactions, export controls, defence procurement and intellectual property protection. The team supports military and dual-use technology projects in Ukraine and abroad.

Energy, infrastructure and resilience
A dedicated part of the programme focused on the resilience of Ukraine's critical infrastructure in wartime. Representatives of DTEK shared the energy company's experience of operating during the war. At a meeting with the Chair of the Management Board of Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways), participants discussed logistics challenges and the approaches taken to address them.
Alongside EVERLEGAL, the programme has been supported since 2025 by Ukraine Global Scholars, the Serpens Center for International Security and First Aid of the Soul. This year they were joined by the Kyiv School of Economics, the Ukrainian Catholic University and Radisson Blu Hotel Kyiv, Kyiv City Centre. The partners helped build connections, arranged accommodation for participants and supported the team on the ground.

Supporting Ukraine Trek forms part of EVERLEGAL's social responsibility. The firm will continue to back initiatives that help keep Ukraine at the centre of international attention.
