On 7 November, the IV Precarpathian Legal Forum took place, this year dedicated to the topic ‘The Legal Profession and Justice in the Era of Change,’ organised by King Danylo University.
Yevhen Pylypenko, Counsel of EVERLEGAL Criminal Law Practice, spoke at the third platform, ‘Lawyers in criminal proceedings under martial law (new challenges – new tools)’.
In his report, Yevhen revealed the topic ‘Practical aspects of a defence lawyer’s work under the restriction of citizens’ constitutional rights during martial law’.
The event brought together representatives of state bodies, lawyers, judges, prosecutors, scientists, teachers, law students, public figures and experts from the legal community.
The topics of the panel discussions covered the most pressing issues in the development of the legal sphere, including:
- ‘The Bar of the Future: Strategy for the Development of the Professional Community’
- ‘Dialogue for justice: lawyers, courts and society’
- ‘Lawyers in criminal proceedings under martial law (new challenges – new tools)’
- ‘Between conflict and resolution: lawyers as facilitators in civil proceedings’
During the discussions, participants discussed key trends in the development of the legal profession, reform of the profession, interaction between lawyers and the courts, the prosecution service and the public, as well as the challenges and prospects for justice in the context of war and social transformation.
The forum also included a charity fundraiser in support of military units in the Carpathian region, organised jointly with the Save Ukraine Now coordination centre.
