Compensation for damage to banks caused by the war: the practice of national courts
According to the Kyiv School of Economics' Report on Direct Infrastructure Damages from Destruction as a Result of the Russian Federation's Military Aggression against Ukraine (the 'Report'), prepared jointly with the Ministry of Development and the Ministry of Economy, in cooperation with other relevant ministries and the NBU, as of November 2024, direct losses to the financial sector, primarily banks, amounted to $44 million.
According to data from the NBU in the December 2023 Stability Report, the residual value of banks' lost, damaged or destroyed property is approximately $21 million.
