EVERLEGAL Counsel participated in a closed meeting with representatives of the Loss Register Council for Ukraine

On March 19, 2025, an EVERLEGAL Counsel, Yuliia Vorontsova, participated in a closed meeting with representatives of the Loss Register Council for Ukraine (RD4U, Register), organized with the support of the Ukrainian Bar Association (UBA).

The meeting discussed topics related to the achievements made so far in the development and implementation of the international compensation mechanism, its future prospects, and plans for the coming years regarding the formation of the Compensation Commission and the search for funding sources for the Compensation Fund.

During the discussion, the representatives of the Register Council emphasized, in particular, the following:

  • Active submission of applications to the RD4U from affected individuals is critically important. The more applications that are submitted, the more significant the issue of holding the aggressor state accountable will become. The number of applications received by the Register should become a key indicator of the urgency and inevitability of this matter, which cannot be ignored under any political circumstances that may arise in the future.
  • The application forms were developed in advance with the principle of accessibility and ease of completion in mind; however, there are categories of individuals who may still encounter difficulties when submitting applications on their own. Therefore, considering the importance of ensuring every affected person’s right to submit an application to the Register, the introduction of maximum assistance and support for applicants should be carried out through joint efforts of the state and the legal community in Ukraine.

The EVERLEGAL team agrees with the Register Council’s position on the importance of affected individuals submitting applications to RD4U, as we firmly believe that the Russian Federation must unquestionably be held accountable for its unlawful actions.

Remember that submitting applications to RD4U and participating in the National Program of Recovery and/or filing a lawsuit in the national court are not mutually exclusive. You can use all available opportunities to apply for compensation for damages.
