EVERLEGAL launches its ESG legal support practice (Environmental, Social Responsibility and Governance)
EVERLEGAL is launching a new area of work, its ESG legal support practice. The practice will provide comprehensive support to Ukrainian companies on environmental, social and governance matters.
The leading experts of the ESG practice at EVERLEGAL are Managing Partner Yevheniy Deyneko, Partner Oleksandr Ruzhytskyi and Associate Lesia Baginska, who specialises in environmental compliance and ESG regulation.
The team will help companies incorporate sustainability requirements into their strategies, day-to-day operations and internal procedures. This includes assessing a company’s current position, identifying risks, preparing the necessary documents and reports, and ensuring compliance with legal requirements and the requirements of international institutions.
The practice builds on EVERLEGAL’s existing experience in this area:
- more than 10 completed projects
- more than 10 corporate clients
- experience with two international reporting standards
- legal support for projects that secured more than €200 million in financing
Sustainability considerations are increasingly affecting the way businesses operate. They are taken into account when financing is provided, investment decisions are made, due diligence is conducted, contracts are concluded and business partners are selected.
For Ukrainian companies, these requirements arise not only from European Union legislation. They are also set by banks, international financial institutions, investors, partners and participants in global supply chains.
The practice covers three main areas of ESG:
Environmental: emissions and climate change, waste management, energy efficiency and biodiversity conservation.
Social Responsibility: working conditions, equality and inclusion, employees’ rights and a company’s impact on local communities.
Governance: anti-corruption measures, reporting transparency, shareholder engagement and internal controls.
ESG legal support is particularly relevant for companies entering European Union markets, joining global supply chains, seeking investment or international financing, undergoing due diligence or or preparing for new sustainability requirements.
A free ESG readiness assessment can be the first step. It helps a company evaluate its current position, identify key gaps and determine which areas require priority attention.
- We have created a dedicated page for the ESG practice on the EVERLEGAL website, bringing together detailed information about this area. To learn more and complete the free ESG readiness assessment, follow the link.
