EVERLEGAL Partner Oleksandr Ruzhytskyi spoke at the II “For safe roads in Ukraine" Forum
On May 25, the II "For Safe Roads in Ukraine" Forum took place in Kyiv, organized by the Centre for Democracy and Rule of Law and the "For Safe Roads" campaign.
The main goal of the discussion platform was to highlight the critical level of fatalities and injuries on Ukrainian roads.
Oleksandr Ruzhytskyi, a partner at EVERLEGAL, spoke during the forum's second panel, which was dedicated to the human factor in traffic accidents. He presented a legal analysis of road safety and offered systemic proposals. Drawing from his practice, Oleksandr noted that the real inevitability of punishment in Ukraine is currently rare and only becomes possible under conditions of strong legal support and public resonance.
The EVERLEGAL partner also proposed implementing several successful foreign models: tying the fine amount for serious violations to a driver’s earnings (the Finnish experience), measuring average speed (the Polish experience), and conducting random sobriety checks (the practice of EU countries).
