New procedure for allocation of court costs: changes in court practice after 16 July 2025
On 16 July 2025, the Law of Ukraine “On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine Regarding the Improvement of the Procedure for the Allocation of Court Costs and Court Fees” dated 18 June 2025 No. 4508-IX (hereinafter – “Law No. 4508-IX”) entered into force.
This Law introduces amendments to the Commercial Procedural Code of Ukraine, the Civil Procedural Code of Ukraine, the Code of Administrative Proceedings of Ukraine, and the Law of Ukraine “On Court Fees”. It significantly impacts the procedure for the reimbursement of parties’ expenses in court proceedings and changes the approach to the collection of court fees.
The purpose of its adoption is to improve the mechanism by which courts resolve issues related to court costs in commercial, civil and administrative proceedings, and to ensure the effective judicial protection of individuals’ rights.
