The VIII Business & Legal Real Estate Forum, organised organised by the Yurydychna Praktyka, was recently held in Kyiv.
Oleksandr Demchuk, Counsel at EVERLEGAL's real estate practice, gave a presentation entitled ‘REIT funds as a tool for attracting investment’. He began his speech with an eloquent example: in the United States, 170 million people include REIT funds in their investment strategy or investment portfolio, i.e. they actually invest. This is almost 50% of the country's population.
‘REIT funds are a tool that will attract both retail investors and businesses that want to create and implement cool projects. This is a prospect not only for the post-war period, but also for the present,’ said Oleksandr.
Oleksandr Demchuk highlighted the following advantages of REITs:
- the best alternative to buying and selling real estate;
- easy scaling of attracted investors;
- minimal transaction costs;
- optimised tax model (no income tax, dividends at 9%);
- convenient asset management;
- a global investment tool with high reliability.
